Time Does Creep

March 24, 2011 Leave a comment

An hour never happens all at once and neither does a year. Each part of time creeps slowly but surely; it is thus up to us not to be overtaken by time. Everything and anything that can ever happen has its appointed time, the only thing to ask ourselves is that do we ever recognize this.

The day has twenty four hours (24 hrs), which means they are one thousand four hundred and forty minutes (1 140mins) which are in themselves eighty-six thousand four hundred seconds (86 400secs) which are potential moments of activities. The statement that there is a time appointed for everything simply means that for each thing that we want to accomplish there is enough time given to it, we simply have to recognize when the right time is. It is like a person stuck in a house where the windows are shut. It might happen that the windows only open at one in the morning for an hour. At that time the window is the only opening that exists for the person to be able to escape and experience a new world. The interesting thing is that when the window opens most of us are sleeping so hence we never see it opening or sometimes we try to wait and stay awake but by the time it is one in the morning we have already dozed off.

Every second that passes by is an opportunity to make a decision or do something different. A lot of us have the problem of delay. We delay quite a bit and later on we are in a rush or we simply miss the time completely. Whether you believe it or not there is always enough time for preparation, but what you need to do is understand what needs to be done and then begin preparing. You do not start preparing for the baby when the baby is one month away from delivery you prepare nine months before the baby even arrives. It is like someone who wants to start a business for selling clothes. The person can sit and pray for capital to come to them but if they do not have the designs, the company name, the logo, the marketing plan ready when the capital finally comes they will lose the opportunity to sell because all they will have is the money and not the capability to set up the company. If the person received the capital today and an order was placed two days later yet they have no idea about their designs or logo it is as good as they do not have the capital because they will fail to provide.

People will sit and make resolutions about what they will achieve in the year. The funny thing is the month of March will come and go as time marches on and they never realize that they are losing time. What we need to learn is that in order to succeed we need to walk with time. The properties of time are simple, time is always on the move and so should we; It is like catching the bus. Think of the bus as time and the stop area where the bus is supposed to stop as the achievement of life. All you have to do is get into the bus at three at that particular time. So two things must happen; the first is that you must meet the bus at three in the afternoon and the second thing is that you must get into the bus. If you delay you might get there whilst the bus has already passed or you might see the bus moving away; it is the same with time. If we sit and watch time pass us by we will never move with it and find the success we want. So at most times we sit and watch as the day starts and finishes but we never do a single thing to change our position in life simply because we never utilize the resource of time.

If you want to be successful in business or life do not become partner with people who cannot keep time or make appointments, such people will make you lose the windows of opportunities. In life do not stake your life based on what a person who cannot keep time promises you for the future in terms of what they can deliver, you will only be disappointed. Time is a resource which we can use but never keep. It is a resource which is always flowing with specific things in it. Think of time as a river flowing down hill which does not have the same things in it all the time, in some seasons it is full of migrating fish which you can catch, in some seasons it has frogs, in some seasons it is dammed by beavers such that for that while you can enjoy its slow motions in that dam state. If you miss the season of the migrating fish do not expect to catch that type of fish in the season of the frogs; rather understand what is in the river and what you can use it for. This is how time is like; if you do not make the appointment with time do not expect time to always bring you the same things. You cannot expect to catch the three o’clock bus at five o’clock because it has already passed. Time is full of windows all around us and we only need but to look and we will see what appointments exist for us. For some it is the window for business, for some it is the window for building, for some it is the window for book writing, whilst for some it is the window for just resting, whilst for some it is the window for having babies, whilst for some it is the window for having a relationship and the list of windows goes on. For everything on earth there is a season and a time. If you watch the sky for a day or two you will see what I mean.

The reason why most of us are frustrated is because we have not yet learned how to read time. Sure we can read the clock that is this hour and that minute but very few of us actually read time. This is why most of us are busy doing things which are not meant for us and when we fail we kick ourselves and resign, giving up yet if we had only learnt how to read time, to truly read, we would know that there is nothing impossible on earth. It’s just a matter of time.

Beyond the Anthill into the Hidden Secrets

March 22, 2011 Leave a comment

For the most part of our lives we consider ourselves lucky or just clever believing it I the reason why we are successful. We fail to realize that we are no different from ants on an anthill that cannot see beyond the anthill into the hidden secrets of life.

For an ant its surrounding are what it sees as the size of the world, yet at any moment a cup of water, a sudden footstep or small cigarette could kill the ant without a moment’s notice. Around the ant due to its size and hence its limitations so many things could occur. In our lives we are no different from the ant. As you walk around the city you have no idea what is around the corner, you can believe it is still the same as you saw it before but like a good driver you know things can change in a second. When driving you keep your eyes open because at any time the clear road can be full of cars, a child crossing the road, a stray animal, a careless driver, a big pothole and so many other things. Being alert does not make you clever it just makes you wise but that does not make you safe. Why it does not make you safe is the very fact that you do not control anything outside yourself. The pedestrian walking on the side of the road could decide to jump in front of your car, the stray animal could just jump into the road from seemingly nowhere, and the driver in the other oncoming lane could just swerve into your car, you could blink and suddenly you are inside a pothole, the cars you think are surrounding you as you travel, one of them could just blow up in front of you causing a pile up.

Time is another entity which we think we control when we are planning. We make so many plans based on time yet it is not ours in the first place. We speak of tomorrow and how we are going to achieve this and that yet time is only but the present. Whilst you are planning your tomorrow someone else could be planning their tomorrow which affects your future. For example the ant could be planning to start working on a new opening beside the ant hill yet unknown to the ant there is a human being planning to create a new house right where the ant lives. So the ant will wake up ready to start creating the opening and the human shows up with a grading machine to destroy the ant hill. Both have planned but only one will receive a favorable outcome. This is how it is in life, you plan to so many things in the future but you actually have no idea what the movement is planning, what your boss is planning, what the regions are planning, what your neighbors are planning, what the market will be like, what the weather will do at that time and certainly what your own family will also do. This does not mean do not plan for the future but it does mean you need to understand the secret beyond the future for an ant on an anthill.

Most of us think that we can hide and be in secret with our plans or we can just disappear from sight and all will be well. We believe that if we hide our plans or act in secret no one sees us, yet it will never guarantee that we are not seen. Ti an ant on an anthill, it can hide beside the bush next to the hill believing no one can see it, but unknown to it a human who stands right next to it can see everything. One of our greatest weaknesses as human is believing that we are the most intelligent and the only advanced existence in the world yet everything in life has a hierarchy. It is pure logic. If an ant cannot see the whole field it means there is something else that can, it could be the beetle because it flies, but the beetle cannot see the entire ground as it stretches beyond the field so that maybe seen by the dragon fly, but again the dragon fly cannot see the whole country so that could be seen by the birds, the birds on the other hand cannot see the entire earth so that is left to the humans, now the humans might be able to look into the sky but surely they cannot see the entire universe or even dream of going to every single part of the universe so that is left to some other existence. The point is this, life has different levels of existence and you should know your place. Our lives on earth are just like the ant and we should believe that there is someone out there bigger than us who can see beyond our anthill.

The hidden secrets of life are not really secrets they are just things we fail o accept or realize. We are not that clever neither are we that intelligent. The fact that in our present day we have no technology to build pyramids should show us that we are not that advanced, the fact that we cannot survive a simple hurricane should tell us we are just like an ant which is threatened by a cup of flowing water, the fact that we are powerless to stop a large meteorite from destroying the earth just means we are as powerless as an ant against man’s grading machine, the fact that we are stuck on earth and cannot go anywhere else due to our abilities, it just means we are like an ant which cannot move too far away from its anthill.

Be wise and know your place. A little prayer in the morning goes a long way. Faith in the right belief can save your life. Hope in what really matters can prolong your life. In all that you do acknowledge the truth and you will find the secrets beyond the anthill.

One Step

March 15, 2011 Leave a comment

It takes one step to live and one step to die. For every journey of a thousand, the one step is the pioneer of greatness. For every chain that will ever be made, one link begins that chain and forms the basis of the existence of that chain. For every human existence there is that one strand of DNA that defines the human genetic makeup. When we master how to take our one step we master how to dominate the world.

Inspiration comes with the flicker of a light not with the brightness of the sun. A baby begins to walk after they have mastered just one step. We toil in ideas daily yet each and every idea has the potential to make us become masters of the world. Each idea is used in one place or the other yet we claim it is not for us. We sit and complain that others seem to make it and we do not yet the world is round, what goes around can come around to us if only we master that one step. Why don’t we stop complaining and step; step towards what we crave for? Why stand around looking at others when we can step into their presence and learn what we can do also?

A journey to greatness is simply the repetition of one step which was mastered. A road is the culmination of experience started by one step build for others to step on. We can stand and admire the length of the journey or instead we can master the power of one step. Ten thousand hours of practice makes one an expert but one mastered step makes one a genius. We never breathe two times but we inhale once and exhale once consecutively. It is not up to us to select the path destiny takes us but it is up to us to select which destiny we desire to travel to. Destiny is not a place that comes to us but a place we choose to go to by the steps we take, that one step that defines the fate of our dreams.

It is easy to speak of life and how much of it we want and have but if we never understand life we will never understand success. Life is a walk, an eternal movement of spirits and souls. It is a calmness that travels many journeys yet stays in one place. It is the step of divinity that creates a mirage of a million lifetime steps; yet when one is truly still, one will notice that life is the perfect motion of one step. Many people will speculate on the road to success but few will actually travel on the road. Bulletins and discussions will be published but none will bring success to anyone. Success will only come to those who take not only that leap of faith but that one step of destiny.

No one wins a race by sitting and dreaming of it, none achieves victory by never running for the victory and certainly never will a person live until they have exercised their right to be born. Success is like the river which wants to burst. In the absence of that first leak or crack in the dam wall from which the water makes its first step there may never be flooding of rushing water. Until that first crack is made and the first sip of water trickles through it remains only but a river wishing to burst. A book does not start with the first chapter it starts with a title; the chapter does not start with a paragraph, it starts with a new page. In life we need to master one step not as a prerequisite to success only but as a necessity to breathe, after all we breath with one breath at a time.

Only a fool attempts to finish a race by starting at the finish line, wisdom is never a way of completion but way of starting and resolving to the completion. Knowledge exits in the presence of life and life exits in the act of one step. That which never takes that first step is dead and that which has mastered one step has found life. If you are thinking of changing your life and you never take that one step, you might as well brand yourself a failure. Everything which is negative is so because it never takes that one step. Fear discourages from an attempt, sadness never moves towards happiness, divorce never steps into bliss, despair is missed step, stupidity is the absence of a step into knowledge, and foolishness is the absence of a mastered step.

A million dollars in not one single entity but is an entity of a million dollars, of which in the absence of one dollar it ceases to be a million dollars. A building whose wall misses one brick becomes s building prone to collapsing. A dozen of eggs which lose just one egg ceases to be called a dozen. Success is hence the culmination of a number of single steps.

Hints of Personal Evil

March 8, 2011 Leave a comment

It is easy to judge the dictators and the leaders that indulge in terrible acts. It is easy to see when they do wrong because they are in the media and we tend to focus on them more than we would ever focus on ourselves, but if you were to stand in the street you would see something terrible. Something so vicious and incredible you would wonder how come you never noticed it. You would see hints of evil within yourself.

The ordinary person prides themselves in being ok, not perfect but being reasonable and considerate but if we are to scrutinize this claim we would see something different. All we have to do is to take consideration of our actions in everyday life to see that we also need help. You can easily tell who makes a good president or leader by the way they act in their small habits. When standing in a queue and someone comes genuinely asking to be let in front because they have a problem to attend to, how many of us would give them a place. Most of us would fume and says a few grumbles. We do this because we never take a second look to think what if it was us, what I would want people to do. All of us can easily tell when someone is lying and when they are not, simply by listening and looking at the person. A person who does not take a second look to listen will not make a good leader because they are not patient enough to understand.

For those who drive there are so many times that people cut in front of you or do something that seems wrong. Most of the time we fume and curse, cases of road rage. In life we will always have people that wrong us and do terrible things but if we do not learn to forgive we will never be forgiven ourselves. A good person learns to forgive, it does not mean that when someone wrongs you it is ok but you must have the decency to forgive and move on. When you scream and shout it never makes you feel better it actually makes you worse and all agitated. My good friend used to say that when you scream and shout it is you who spends your energy whilst the other person just drives off with their life, you never achieve anything at all. If spend all your life thinking people are the ones doing you wrong you might never actually see that sometimes it is because you are also doing something wrong.

In the restaurant people like ordering their food and then shouting at the waiter, which most of the time is completely unjustified. Does anyone ever stop and ask why the food is late or why the person got the order wrong? We all have bad days and sometimes at work we fail to do things right or we just keep making mistakes, but it does not mean you are silly it just means you are having a bad day. When someone makes a mistake or your food is late it is better to ask why it is late so that you understand. Shouting does not make the situation better it just makes the waiter angry or feel stupid. Imagine if people were always shouting at you in public. Always take the time to consider the other side.

The other day a lady ran out of money at the cashier when she was about to pay for her shopping. Her money was short by three dollars; everyone just looked at her and some people starting mumbling that she should not have bought so many things. Looking at the lady you could tell she really needed what she was buying and that what she was buying were really basic things such that you could not say there was nothing she did not need. The cashier asked her if she could remove one time and the lady looked quite desponded. Interestingly enough everyone just looked and then another person who was in another queue moved over and handed her five dollars, to include two dollars in case she had over spent her transport money. She was so happy and she paid for all her things and went her way the guy only smiled went back to his queue. The interesting thing is the guy never spoke a word to her because he could not speak her language since he was a foreigner in the country. True leaders in society know when to sacrifice and they know when people need help; they never ask for anything in return.

Everyday we are involved in one act or the other, the way we speak to the maid, the janitor, the way we conduct ourselves in restaurants, public areas, the comments we make about politics, the way we live all speaks volume about what kind of people we are. Sometimes evil is not far from our house it could simply be in us without us knowing it. We should always look at ourselves and be honest, asking ourselves if we really are doing things the right way or are we being selfish. Sometimes people sacrifice for us at work, home, queues, and in life but we fail to see it. We are too busy thinking of our problems to see that we are actually a problem and a log in other people’s eyes. It does not matter for how long you do something wrong, at that moment that you shout at a waiter or scream at another driver, you affect that person’s day. Sometimes it is so bad the person ends up in a very bad state simple because we started it by screaming at that person for just ten seconds.
