When Life Rains

August 31, 2010 Leave a comment

There are different types of precipitation on earth just as they are different types of problems in life. For each type of rain you face you need to decide what strategy you have in order to withstand the rains. For some storms, you may need to quieten the storm, for some you may need to build an ark whilst for some rain you may need to just wait it out. God has a plan for each type of rain for everything on earth and we too should have a plan for each type of rain that comes in our lives.

In Africa it rains suddenly sometimes almost without warning. You can wake up and all you see is the sky opened up and it never seems like it will stop. Usually we have two choices, if the rain is really heavy we stay indoors until it stops because we know it will stop or if it is light rain we venture out and head towards our destination. No matter how heavy the rain is we have confidence that the rains will stop and the sun will appear. Such is life when things do not make sense, when it seems you are just battling all the time and there are no signs of sunshine. Just as the rain, everything will end and the sun will come out. We know this because we have seen it time and time again, no matter how terrible the weather it will come to an end at some point and sunshine will come. Look at your most difficult situations and see what type of rain you have. If you think you can venture out while it is raining then do not waste time, please go out and brave the storm. If you think the storm is too much at the moment then wait it out, it will end. Every problem has a solution and if it seems like it has no solution then that problem is just a lie.

When the storm is too heavy our problem is not the rain it is the fact that sometime we do not have enough cover to protect us if we were to venture out. Sometimes it is not about the rain it’s about our umbrellas, or vehicles. If we see that whenever it rains we are stuck inside it’s because we are not concentrating on the solution because the same rain is always shutting us in. We should move from different levels of storms with different levels of covers. When it rained in Noah’s time he waited it out in the ark because he knew the clouds will clear even if it took almost a year for dry land to appear again. His ark was his solution, His patience his strategy and God was his security. The rain will stop; just decide what you must do when it rains, whilst it’s raining and after it stops raining.

When it rains do not be discouraged but take heart and think of what you have to do. Many challenges will come which you may not expect but remember there is nothing new in life all that happens has happened before. God has a plan, to all my friends who feel it’s raining, lots of love.

Gen 9:16  And the rainbow shall be in the cloud. And I will look upon it that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

Above The Waters, Above the Problems

August 31, 2010 2 comments

Problems come in so many different shapes that they can sometimes seem to cover everything we believe in. When you look at your life sometimes it may seem like the problems are a stretch of water going over and over everything that you believe in or your very existence.  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth but before that his spirit hovered over the waters.

No matter how deep problems maybe there is always a solution but the solution cannot be found if you are drowning within the problems. If you are inside the oceans of problems you become part of the problem and it becomes difficult to solve it. When you find yourself covered in problems sometimes the best thing to do is to hover on top. In other words it is a good thing to become an observer for a while. This is done in order to understand the problem first before you come up with solutions to the problems. Your spirit instead of becoming agitated about the deepness of the problem becomes more comprehensive of the possible solutions. If you are inside the oceans of problems there is always that tendency to be overwhelmed by the size of the problems. It is like standing at the base of the mountain and wondering how you could ever climb it.

Hovering above the waters also requires that you see the extent of the problem. You do not look at the problem in order to admire it but you look at the problem in order to see how far your solution has to go. Most of the times we underestimate the problems thinking that we know what we have to do and then we are surprised just how wide the problem is. Any good leader knows that in order to solve the problem one has to listen and hear from all the different parts of the populations. If you neglect to this you may just miss a part which could more problematic in the future than the one you thought you solved.

Problems will come and they will go, how long they stay is up to how we approach dealing with them. If we chose to be part of the problem by swimming with the problem we will soon discover that our every thought is oriented towards being a problem. In other words we are defeated before we even start. It is thus necessary to ensure that we see ourselves not as part of the problem but as a separate entity from the problem. The moment we become part of the problem in our minds we will never solve it. This is why we begin to feel like life is like that and we cannot see anything different. As time goes we begin to think that there can never be a solution and we just learn to swim with the rest of the crowd.

Gen 1:2  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Be As Wise as Serpent

August 30, 2010 1 comment

Mat 10:16  Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

As much as Christians can be holy and true there is always that perception of being gullible which hangs around our necks. Gullible meaning we seem like a people who everyone can take advantage of or people that are not in touch with what is going on in the world always seeming to be the irrelevant ones or rather the simple ones. Clinging to the gospel, so easy to use, poor, quiet and just plain ordinary to step on. Jesus said be wise as serpents yet we never seem to dwell on that instruction to understand what it means. He certainly did not say be serpents but he did refer to the wisdom of the serpent as being necessary. In this wisdom the serpent though greatly disadvantaged in terms of mobility, it does survive even under the harshest conditions. Even though lacking a clear voice the serpent has perfected its inability to speak to a sound which is familiar and feared by all. If not feared at least it gets everyone’s attention. Even when deaf the serpent still finds a way of sensing things around and still gets around as if it hears all and understands. Ever wondered why the serpents always seems laid back without wanting to attract too much attention as much as the lion would or perhaps why the serpent would shed its skin after a while or two as it moves on.

Now, nowhere in the Bible does it say because you are now Christian, be stupid, if anything it gets you ready for war and asks you to be as wise as one of the most dangerous animals, the serpent at the same time being, as harmless as the dove. Serpents are the most practical animals you will ever meet. The serpent is aware of its disadvantages such as lack of a voice, lack of proper mobility and everything else. Knowing this the serpent knows when to attack and when to hide, when to hiss and when not to hiss, when to seem dangerous and when to seem harmless, when to flee and when to advance, where to live and where not to live, when to bite and when to coil around a victim, when to bask in the sun and when to go underground. The serpent knows how to look dangerous and how not to even be seen, when to attack and not be seen and when to be seen and then attack. The serpent is a creature of intense wisdom because if it is not wise it would be one of the first creatures to go extinct. It knows which ground to use and which not to use when moving. Knows its greatest enemies and its least enemies. Has perfected the art of being mystical not giving too much away.

Now Christians need to learn how to be wise and practical otherwise you are just going to be so simple people take advantage of you. If you are not wise people will kill you before your time. If you are not wise you will move on the wrong ground and never really advance in life. If you do not perfect your talk people will think you cannot speak. If you do not build an impression people will build one for you. If you do not learn how to attack you will always be attacked. If you do not learn how to bite, when it is time to bite you will die. Did not Jesus hide himself from people when they wanted to kill him before his time, did he not avoid Jerusalem for quite some time? Did Christ not overturn tables in the temple? Did he not perfect his voice so that the Pharisees would know he was serious? Did he not tongue lash the Pharisees? If Christ was this practical why not us? Why do we act like the world should all of a sudden give us what we want because we are Christian? Let us wakeup. Be Wise but don’t be selfish, be wise but don’t be inconsiderate, be wise but don’t be full of hate. Let love guide you. Be wise as serpents but harmless as doves.

The World is Simple but People Are Complicated

August 27, 2010 Leave a comment

There is nothing complicateD about the world, it is either you know what you want or you do not; most of the time we live on the edge or on the road of indecision so we end up thinking that the world is complicated.

A simple question to ask people, just to prove that people are complicated, is asking someone what they want in life.  Most of the answers take long and strangely enough if the person answers they tend to review it over and over again. The truth is most people have no idea what they want so the world decides for them. If you have no idea on what you want then it is only natural that people decide for you. We then cry that the world is complicated when it is not. It is easy to uncomplicate the world.

First, know what you want in life. The sooner you know exactly what you want in life you will discover that you were wasting time with a lot of things. Things actually become clearer such that you can understand what you want. If you knew what you want in life no one would tell you what to do and you just agree. When someone tells you what to do with your life at least because you know what you want in life you can assess if it is good for you so that you have no complications in the future. How many people have done degrees they have no love for, or travelled to places they never wanted in the first place, or got married to someone who was never really good enough for them?

Now second, if you know what you want then you need to stop wasting time with things which make no sense to you. In other words you need to start doing a little bit of life cleaning, where you tick all the things in your life that you need and that is what you concentrate on. What is the point of living someone else’s dream when you cannot live your life? How many of us are just doing things we think we are supposed to do but deep down we know it is a waste of time. Instead of rectifying this we sigh and say that the world is complicated. It is not the world which is complicated it is people.

Thirdly, if you know what you want then focus on the things which you love. We use so much energy in things which we do not like, why not spend the energy on what we love? it is a strange thing that we spend so much energy at work but when it comes to doing our own business we just do not spend enough thinking energy on it. We can solve problems on work on time and beating the deadlines but when it comes to our lives we just cannot.

Should Christians Stay Out of Politics

August 26, 2010 Leave a comment

Many people ask this question but few ever answer it appropriately. In actual fact people hide their true answers behind what they have been told or what they expect people are expecting them to say.

Now Christians are in the world but are not part of the world so the saying goes.  Does that statement mean that if God calls you to rectify what is wrong then you step aside and say that the church should not be involved? It is very hard to find one person in the bible who was not involved in politics. Moses challenged the political set up of Egypt, David became king, Abraham established the roots for state, and the list goes on and on. What is politics anyway? Just because the people of the day use it in a dirty way does that mean that it is a dirty word?

When you create a vacuum in any place something else must fill that vacuum, it is the law of nature. If you step out of entertainment someone else will take your spot, if you step out of government someone else will rule you. It is the same thing in politics, if you step out then someone else will take charge. Christians are supposed to be the light of the world but what happens to that light when they refuse to lead in the different aspects of society? Who will provide the light in politics, sports, economics, and entertainment? If things are looking bad in the world it is because someone has neglected their responsibility. It is sin for a person who knows to do good and neglects it.

People like to use Jesus and say he was never involved in politics. Jesus was seen as a leader and had quite a following which is why he was crucified. His gospel of the kingdom of God is that not a message which challenges the very political standing of the kingdoms of the earth. When Satan was trying to tempt Jesus was that not a political move so as to defeat his adversary by making his adversary joins his kingdom? We complain about global warming, political injustice, corrupt courts, misguided television entertainment, well guess what, if you are not involved in the decision making there is nothing you can do about it.

So here is the question once more, should Christians be involved in politics. Let me know.

Tears Never Stopped the Rain

August 24, 2010 Leave a comment

When it rains it pours, as the saying goes. We can cry about it and complain as much as we want or think we need to but the fact is that when the rain decides to come down it will come down. As much as we cry it will never stop the rain. We can weep or cry ourselves to sleep but the rain will continue.

Heartbreaks come and go but you cannot prevent them from coming once they decide they are coming. Injustice will always be there and so will a lot of things which we do not believe are fair when they happen. The only thing that then matters is what we do about it. There is nothing wrong in crying but when you cry make sure it is the beginning of you doing something to change things. Your tears should be an acknowledgment of how things are and what you need to do. Cry for a time but know when you must stop so that you can rectify things or fight.

Sometimes people will do things to you, which you never imagined they could do, and you will be so disappointed that nothing will make sense to you. It is at this time that you must decide what you stand for. Many people die in the world disappointed by the world, never having achieved true happiness. Most people die having spent all their life time crying and complaining about things. Many people die hoping that a hero will come from somewhere and that things will change. The truth is though you may cry about a situation; it does not mean it will change. You have to get up and do something otherwise you are just going to be a statistic.

There is a scene in a certain movie where a carriage is attacked by barbarians during the old times. In the movie a certain man goes under the carriage and starts to cry hoping that the attack will stop. Whilst he is crying under the carriage, the others fight for their lives and they defeat the attackers. You always have a choice in life, to go under the carriage and cry or to come out of the carriage and fight. If you choose to cry you will die, always being a stepping stone for everyone and never ever achieving anything.

As said before, the rain will come and so will your tears but does it mean that you should aid the rain by providing more water from your eyes or should you stand up and fight. No amount of tears will ever stop the rain, if anything it actually makes it worse.

The Science of Poverty

August 18, 2010 Leave a comment

We say that we are equal but we never really hit the nail on the head in understanding what we are equal in. If the truth be told we are not equal but equal in some things. Understanding what we are equal in and what we are not equal in, is then what becomes the science that makes the difference between poverty and being rich.

We are equal in the respect that we all deserve the same human rights. We deserve the same access to what nature has to provide and of course to have the basics necessary for life. We are equal in that we have desires, and all these other generalized terms but in all, we are in equal in that we are all capable of doing or achieving something. The danger now comes in simply mistaking human rights or capability for achievement. Every cloud can produce rain but it is not every cloud which will bring rain. The clouds are equal in that they are clouds and they have the right to be in the sky, they are equal in that they contain the same substance, but when it comes to the rain they will not produce the same amount of rain whilst some will never rain at all.

We as humans are not equal in knowledge and wisdom. Knowledge and wisdom is something we receive either by someone higher giving us or simply by us learning and opening up to it. The difference between people is that it is not everyone who has the capacity to learn who is going to read, it is not everyone who has the capacity to run who is going to run. You can place diamonds in front of a person but unless if they get up to pick them they will never own the diamonds.  It is the same with knowledge and wisdom. Whoever said knowledge and wisdom were there in the street was so correct. It is there in the market place, in the deserted street, in the desert, in the houses, in the homes, in the workplaces and everywhere. If you search for it you will find it. If you do not look for it you will never find it even if it was standing next to you.

The science of poverty is having the capability to know but never having the wisdom to use the capability. It is being knowledgeable but being foolish enough to ignore the knowledge. It is having wisdom but applying the wrong knowledge. It is being constantly told change the way you think and the only thing you change is the way you feel. It is being given the keys to the house and all you have ever do is acknowledge you have the keys but never open the door. It is opening the door for others but never getting in yourself. When people say we are equal I prefer thinking that they are talking about capability rather than wisdom and knowledge, because in that regard we are not equal. Some people are wise enough to gather knowledge but foolish enough to never implement it. The majority are never wise enough to gather any knowledge which is why poverty becomes scientific because it becomes a myth to everyone.
