The Pressure of Prayer: 2

For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Know your place, and know your position. He is high to be lifted and honored. We sometimes forget who we are praying and simply do a routine. If you were before a king would you just blabber words or would you choose and say them carefully bearing in mind who you are talking to. Sometimes we forget our place and instead utter words absent mindedly.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. We may want a lot of things but do we ever take time to understand what does God expect of us? What kind of God is he and if heaven was on earth what will be expected of us. If you were created in his image then there are particular traits which should be in you which are from Him. The earth is not an excuse to lack and fumble, but instead we should search for that which is true. There are many things on earth but there is only one God.

Give us this day our daily bread. We have not because we ask not. What constitutes bread to you may not constitute bread to others; why not ask for what is bread to you instead of copying everyone else. We ask amiss because we are copying and not true to our hearts. Ask and you shall receive, knock and the door shall be answered, look and you shall find. When you pray do not use vain repetitions but ask for what is bread to you after all your father already knows what you need before you ask for it, so ask for it and don’t ask what someone else needs and think that is what you need.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you. By what standard are prayers answered? Would it not make sense that the judgement you exercise on others is the same that you receive after all that is what you would have set in your life. If you tip a dollar then expect to receive a dollar, if you forgive after ten years then expect to be forgiven after ten years. The standard you set in your private and public life is the standard that will apply to you. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. There will be weapons formed against you, recognize this and pray that they do not prosper, pray no temptation can overcome you but overcome evil with good. We do not believe in a faith of words but of power and truth. Let your prayers be a declaration of the power you believe in. let not your words be void, but a yes be a yes and a no be a no.

Finally, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

This article opens up powerful insights in a prayer that we learnt to recite since grade school. This gives it a whole new and profound perspective to how we ought to relate with our maker, who Himself through the Son taught us how to pray. We are programmed to pray from the time of creation, has the earth tempered with our configuration to pray. Thanks Winston for this unpacking of the Lord’s prayer. Keep looking up. Paul

Yes, food for thought. While I was reading the message I was reminded that we still need to re-visit our way of thinking each time we pray. Surely our dear Father is merciful in every way (is quick to forgive us even if we fail to observe his rules when praying). Imagine the way we try to force him to adjust to our own priciples yet he already knows what we earnestly need. As a way forward lets pray for one another to abide by God’s statutes lest we fall prey to the evil ways of praying. Thank you for the reminder and valuable contribution – God bless !!!

In these words we find, in plain and simple language, the plan which the Jesus message instructs us that we should follow as the guide for, and control of, our daily living. If all of mankind invoked your will, dear God, to be done on this earth and if each person worked toward that end then all of the other teachings of Jesus would come to fruition. And with that, thy Kingdom will come to be on this earth as it is in heaven.
