The Art of Doing It

Whatever turns up, grab it and do it. And heartily! This is your last and only chance at it, For there’s neither work to do nor thoughts to think in the company of the dead, where you’re most certainly headed. I took another walk around the neighborhood and realized that on this earth as it is. The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor satisfaction to the wise, nor riches to the smart, nor grace to the learned.

We all know a few thousand people or so personally who have read some of the most inspiring books of all time and even the good book itself, however for most of them, when they close the book that is the end of it all. Most people when motivated are only inspired to dream and never really grasp the art of doing it. Success is something that manifests when you do something and not when you speak it or dream it. Speaking and dreaming are but an ingredient to the final product. The art of doing it is simple it takes only a few awareness point that we shall point out today. Talk is cheap and reading without action is even cheaper, the cheaper your investments the less valuable your rewards.

Life is a journey of time and accountability, and hence there will never been another time as the time that just passed now. The time at two o’clock is not the same as the time at one past two. In a more expressive way, two people can never see the same thing in the same way and hence events in time can never be identical. An opportunity can present itself every day but on each day the events it can affect and the events that affect it will never be the same. Simply put, if you do not use the time you have at that moment in the now, do not expect to reap the same harvest if you plant to tomorrow. A second can be the difference between investing in a successful product and completely losing out on a good future. So the first point in the art of doing it is that, time is equal to action.

Most people do not understand what time is hence they think its numbers moving on a clock or simply the setting of the sun. Time measures events, it measures the going and the coming of the sun, the aging and the growth of people, the birth and the death of dreams. The secret of time is simple, time is just events. If you spend time sleeping then sleep is your time and you get the reward of sleep. If you spend time planning then blue prints are your time and what you have is a plan as your result. If you spend your time selling products then cash is your time and the result of that is money. Every time you delay in time, delay becomes your time and your investment, whilst every time you act then that action becomes your investment and you reap what you sow. When you look at the time you are actually looking at the events in your life or in the world. So most people speak in error when they say it is time to sleep for example because they are thinking time defines their actions. You do not sleep because it is night time you sleep because you decide to sleep. You are the one who defines the time according to the events.

Some people are very good at knowing time or rather understanding time, simple because they understand that time is a series of events. These people have understood that when they look at days they are looking at the summary of events and potential events. In the end they know exactly what to do because they are living their lives in relation to the events that they can influence or they can use to their advantage. Hence these people can create large corporations like Microsoft, Facebook, De Beers, Rolex and the list goes on.

It does not matter how fast, wise or strong you are in life; if you never learn to understand time and use time then you are just as foolish as the person who sits on gold and cries for cash not realizing that the gold is ten times more worth than the paper given to them. So most people will tell you how they read Rich Dad and Poor Dad, some will sit and listen to the greatest inspirational speeches ever said but if they never implement then all they did was read and listen. The only thing you reap from reading and listening is that you store up information and that is it.

What’s there to show for your lifetime of work, a lifetime of working your fingers to the bone, slaving through the days? One generation goes its way, the next one arrives, but nothing changes, it’s business as usual for old planet earth. The sun comes up and the sun goes down, then does it again, and again, the same old round. The wind blows south, the wind blows north. Around and around and around it blows, blowing this way, then that–the whirling, erratic wind. All the rivers flow into the sea, but the sea never fills up. The rivers keep flowing to the same old place, and then start all over and do it again. If your life is like that then you are not using time at all, you then become just another event to pass and die having lived an ordinary regular uneventful life.

To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heavens: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pull up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. What are you doing with your time I wonder, sitting and wondering, dreaming yourself closer to the grave and waiting for the end in the routine of a non eventful life.

WOW Winston, i want to stop being the guy who reads inspirational articles/books etc and never really use any of it. Your article has given me a reason to make resolutions ASAP, not for the coming year, but from now onward. I am determined to go beyond just dreaming and planning, but to also actually doing. Thank you for this very moving reminder.
