Falling off the Windows of Faith

The same opportunity which can bring success is the same window that can bring disaster in life. Just as goodness can come into one’s life, it can happen that when we are not watchful the same window can bring misfortune and hurt into our lives.

In every opportunity that one gets there is always that possibility that there is an enemy which lurks in not so far a distance. This is seen whenever people are starting new ideas or simply just breaking through a certain ground. In weddings, we have all seen how difficult it can be to organize weddings to a point that certain unexpected events can just seemingly decide to happen. A person who finally decides to start a business can face such resistance that the person ends up wondering what is the point. There is no such thing as coincidence in life everything has a source. The verse John 10:10 , “A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy.” , explains the nature of the type of enemy that exists in everyone’s life, an enemy that simply seeks to devour what is there, robs the blessings of a great idea and seeks to destroy the birthing of a wonderful house. The truth on the ground is that once your window of opportunity has opened it means you have received all that comes with it, your name is written on it, all you have to do is position yourself in the right place so that you benefit. Your enemies know this and they too will position themselves to gain or take over your opportunity. So we hear of coups that happen in companies, people’s ideas are stolen, some never get off the ground whilst some are just rejected before they even get anywhere.

A window is that moment when opportunity comes to you. A young man, Eutychus, heard that Paul was in the city and he went to see and hear the great man speak. This was his opportunity to gain wisdom which would change his life and the only way to access it was through a window. The verse Act 20:9 “A young man named Eutychus was sitting in an open window. As Paul went on and on, Eutychus fell sound asleep and toppled out the third-story window. When they picked him up, he was dead”, summarizes the story so perfectly. Most people sit by an open window of opportunity and whilst they are there the enemy comes and kills their dream. The enemy does not need to push you off the window, the enemy can advise you to sleep during the time of your opportunity and in no time at all you find yourself falling off the window of opportunity. How many people do we know who when they start a business instead of being there with the business go to sleep and when they wake up the business is gone? Or people who when they are studying for an exam continuously sleep more than eight hours a day and never get their way around the exam. It is simply put in this way ” A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to lie down; Pro 24:34 then your poverty comes stalking, and your want like a man armed with a shield.”.

When opportunity comes and is doing so by a window then you would do well to stand by the window and guard that is what it is. The last thing you would want is for your enemy to come through the window that you expect greatness to come through. On the other hand if you play your cards well just like the woman in the city of Jericho you can be saved (Jos 2:18 here is what you must do: Hang this red rope out the window through which you let us down and gather your entire family with you in your house–father, mother, brothers, and sisters). It is all up to you to decide how your windows can be used in this life where without faith it is impossible to achieve anything in life. Be prudent and guard over your windows of life. Ensure they are closed when they should be and opened when you are watchful. Let those you let in be true and those you keep out be false. If a window is given to you to enter through it and gain success, make sure you do not sleep by it because you can fall and your dreams will die. Remember just as the window can give you success the same window can leave you stranded and regretting why you were never prudent enough. If you have ever fallen from a window of opportunity, it is never too late, that opportunity can still be resurrected as with the bioy who fell off in Acts (Act 20:10 Paul went down, stretched himself on him, and hugged him hard. “No more crying,” he said. “There’s life in him yet.” Act 20:12 the congregation another, leading the boy off alive, and full of life themselves.). If you are falling off and are midway in the air, you can still be caught and saved as nicely put in Psalms (Psa 91:11 He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go. Psa 91:12 If you stumble, they’ll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling.). Be wise and stay prudent but bold in faith.
