Sleep But Not Too Much

Whenever we go to sleep the world never stops turning. Contrary to belief even our own private lives do not stop. The electricity still charges, the water bill will still be processed, the air around us still circulates and depreciation still happens all around us. Sleep by design is a preparation mechanism, in other words it is rest so that you are more prepared to carry on where you left off.

There are different kinds of sleep in life when it comes to achievement and how they affect your success in life. There is the normal sleep for the body where the body needs to rest. This kind of sleep everyone on the planet takes part in it because it is absolutely necessary. Resting your body enables the body to take a break so that you can be fresher to interact with the world. Some form of success also depends on a person being able to sleep. However sleeping for too long can hinder your success. We live in a time based world and surely there is a season for everything as the earth goes round and round. In a day of twenty four hours if you miss an hour of productivity it means you delay the result. Let us say you have a story to write in seven days, your final day of delivering the story being Sunday morning. Your week starts on Monday and ends on the Sunday of it. If you decide to write the story on the first day of the week it gives you six more days to perfect the story and notice the errors, if however you write on Saturday night you have less time to perfect the story and to find the errors. That is what we do when we mistake resting for actual advancing in life. In rest you do not advance you actually prepare to advance. For every moment you sleep the world changes in so many ways. If you over rest in your life you will never find time to perfect your work or skills or simply to make more time to do other things.

The second type of sleep is the sleep where people instead of advancing are always doing the same things. Their minds and sprit are asleep all the time. All the person ever does is produce fruit, if they ever produce any, but they never multiply or become dominant in anything. In other words their thinking ability is asleep. Instead of creating new things or venturing into something completely new all they do is rest in the usual career or the same habits. The same way they were ten years ago is the same way that they are today. Most of the world is sleeping in this second sleep just like the first one. As humans we are naturally blessed in being able to create aspire and progress. This is why we have all the inventions around us. Most people sleep in traditions and culture and never wake up to the environment. Even plants understand the concept. Instead of staying dormant in the ground the seed quickly realizes the opportunity and sprouts in no time at all, a plant is born. Most of us are like dormant seeds always sleeping waiting for someone to wake us up but what we fail to realize is that they are very few people who go around waking others up. We are seeds placed in fertile ground which is planet earth but all we ever choose is to lie dormant preferring the cover of the ground. We are afraid to grow and experience new things. As a result we die as seeds and never experience the joys of life. A seed that dies in the ground without ever sprouting rots and nothing comes out of it. A seed that sprouts and becomes a tree grows and when it dies it continues on as it would have produced more seeds. In other words those who are truly alive never really die.

The only time it is too late to wake up is when we are dead.
Pro 6:9 How long will you sleep, O sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep?
Pro 6:10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to lie down;
Pro 6:11 so shall your poverty come as one who travels, and your need like an armed man.
